FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CALABASAS, Calif. -- July 30, 2008 — Emergent is granting free licenses for Allegorithmic’s powerful procedural texturing middleware ProFX to current Gamebryo customers (MMO titles are not eligible). This offer is in honor of the ProFX and Gamebryo integration launch and is valid until Sept. 31, 2008.
Developers can now leverage the ProFX integration and work right out of the box with Gamebryo. Emergent and Allegorithmic are also offering training sessions that will help Gamebryo customers master ProFX and its authoring tool, MapZone.
Allegorithmic’s ProFX is a professional tool that provides developers with powerful features for authoring and on-the-fly generation of procedural textures. Key features include:
- Shipping Size - Textures are 500x to 2000x smaller than traditional bitmaps, ideal for downloadable content
- Visual Quality - procedural textures are resolution independent and allow users to create high quality complex maps (diffuse, normal, specular, bump, displacement, etc.)
- Flexibility - The texture editor, MapZone, provides a unique power of expression allowing developers to create all styles of textures and control the end result via a patented local editor
- Productivity - the nonlinear approach and parallel authoring process allows users to dramatically increase productivity and create a huge amount of texture assets
- Speed - Uses both GPUs and multiple CPU cores to generate gorgeous textures at high speed during load-time or install time
“Emergent's partner program puts the industry’s best tools and technology into the hands of Gamebryo developers. The integration with ProFX enables Gamebryo customers to easily take advantage of Allegorithmic's procedural texturing tool to allow more rapid iteration of art assets,” said John Austin, VP of Technical Partners and Academics, Emergent.
This is the first initiative to come from Allegorithmic’s participation in Tech Connection, Emergent’s Certified Partner Program. Allegorithmic tools will be incorporated within the Gamebryo platform, allowing game developers using the engine to choose from a wide array of industry-leading technologies to best suit their development needs.
“This is just the first step in what we see as a meaningful partnership with Emergent,” said Dr. Sébastien Deguy, president and founder of Allegorithmic. “Extending free ProFX licenses and training materials to developers using the Gamebryo platform will open up many new opportunities for our two customer bases to communicate, share and develop outstanding games content.”
Emergent is dedicated to providing customers with the best technology on the market. The Allegorithmic offer follows the highly successful Wwise promotion in Q2 of 2008. Additional information about the ProFX offer or how to participate in Tech Connection can be found at www.emergent.net.
