Antipiracy

EMERGENT’S PIRACY PREVENTION STATEMENT

Our Principles

PROTECT THE COMMUNITY

We believe it is our obligation to support our licensed customers and the software community.  Piracy slows innovation and harms our valuable patrons.  When businesses or individuals illegally use copyrighted material, the business or person is limiting their full user experience, as well as significantly hurting their reputation.  We are dedicated to providing all of our customers with the best services we can offer, including world class tech support, software updates and membership to the Pulse Community – piracy prevents us from fulfilling this commitment.

SUPPORT INNOVATION

As a provider of software, we believe it is our responsibility to support innovation and continual development.  Piracy undermines advancement; stolen software hinders active participation in the Emergent community.  Ultimately, this translates into a lost opportunity for the entire gaming community, limiting creativity and slowing development.   In other words, when someone commits piracy, that individual or company is stealing from all of us.

Help fight Software Piracy

Each time a business or individual steals software, the business or person is damaging their surrounding community’s professional integrity.  We want to build our business on a reliable foundation of collaboration and trust.

TAKE ACTION

We are committed to preventing piracy.   We believe that it is in our customers’, partners’, and industry’s best interest to fight against the stealing of software.  For this reason, we support the piracy prevention movement and ask you to join us.

Do good. If you hear or know of someone illegally using our software, please tell us.  We want to do what is right for our customers and our community.  We want to offer the best service and products for all our clients, so if you know of such illegal instances, please contact us at preventpiracy@emergent.net.

EDUCATE OTHERS

Stealing intellectual property may lead to criminal and civil fines and penalties.  To help us stop software piracy, you can also inform others of the damage piracy causes.  In their recently released Global Software Piracy Study, Business Software Alliance (BSA-IDC) states that “[t]he impacts of piracy also affect the broader IT industry.  IDC estimates that for every dollar of software sold in a country, another $3 to $4 of revenue is generated for local service and distribution firms.”  Reducing piracy has also proven to substantially increase local IT jobs.

You can increase local awareness by informing others about the risks associated with piracy, as well as encourage the use of licensed software.
