NCsoft® Chooses Emergent’s Gamebryo

April 02, 2008

CALABASAS, Calif. (April 1, 2008) – Emergent Game Technologies announced today that NCsoft®, the world's leading developer and publisher of online computer games, has signed a licensing agreement for the award-winning Gamebryo video game development platform with the company’s North American business unit.  NCsoft’s product portfolio includes the world’s largest massively multiplayer franchise, Lineage®, as well as the award winning Guild Wars® and City of Heroes® franchises.

“Gamebryo offers a comprehensive development framework with the right balance of flexibility to integrate with our proprietary tools and existing projects,” said Chris Mayer, VP of product development for NCsoft North America.  “It allows us to very quickly take projects from concept to prototype on a variety of platforms which is a tremendous advantage from a creative execution standpoint.  Having our creative teams worrying less about fighting with technical challenges and focused more or making sure the product is fun is the right strategy for developing our games.”

“Gamebryo was engineered as a flexible and modular platform supporting multiple genres of games,” said Geoffrey Selzer, CEO of Emergent.  “Our cross-platform technology gives NCsoft unlimited options for extending its current products and creating new content for the global gaming audience.”
