Emergent Game Technologies, Inc., a tools and infrastructure provider to the online entertainment and video game industry, is searching for a motivated, detailed-oriented, autonomous individual to serve as one of our IT Administrators.

Qualifications

 

The ideal candidate will possess a high level of knowledge about UNIX (BSD, Gentoo, Fedora) and Windows (Server2003) network architectures, and a demonstrated ability to design and implement high-end, scalable, enterprise-quality internet business services.

Candidates will have strong network engineering experience pertaining to Internet business services, as well as several years of system administration on a variety of UNIX & Windows platforms. Candidates must be highly organized, meticulous, and comfortable in a production-oriented environment.  A network security background is a plus, as is an awareness of internet entertainment products and services, such as massive multiplayer games.

Candidates must be able to work in a structured manner within an autonomous environment, efficiently implementing technical solutions and communicating with both internal team members and external development partners. A professional work ethic, innovative problem solving abilities and strong communications skills are all obviously required.

Valued Skills

  • UNIX (Gentoo, Linux, BSD and other flavors)
  • Network security, networking (LAN & Wan), network architecture
  • Network infrastructure components (switches, load-balancers, etc).
  • Understanding of the administration of commercial databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • All major internet services – DNS, NFS, DHCP, LDAP, Sendmail, Apache, SQL, FTP, etc.
  • UDP/IP, TCP/IP stack, and Windows Server technologies
  • Scripting or programming in (Shell, Perl, Java, Python, C/C++, etc) highly desirable
  • Monitoring, network management, real-time enterprise and service availability tools are very useful
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • The ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff and to work productively in teams
